841,894. Magnetic couplings. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 11, 1957 [July 4, 1956], No. 22020/57. Class 35. In a device such as a clutch utilizing magnetic powder, the powder is retained by two or more slightly separated coaxial annular magnets with like poles facing one another, one magnet 14 being on the shaft and another 12 extending from a wall of the powder space towards the shaft. In another form the magnets are side by side, the fixed magnet extending almost up to the shaft, in both cases the powder being magnetically repelled from the slight inter-magnet space. Specification 708,127 is referred to.
