Abstract
888,561. Pistons. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. Nov. 23, 1960 [Dec. 1, 1959], No. 40306/60. Class 122 (1). A piston 1 is provided with a heat-insulating layer or filling to prevent overheating of the ring-carrying part 4 by heating the piston head 2 to render it plastic and embedding therein a mineral substance 6, preferably a ceramic substance, in powder or grit form. The substance may be forced into the plastic surface of the piston head and combustion chamber 3 by heated compressed-air or by electrostatic or magnetic effects. The region 7 near the cylindrical surface of the piston is kept free of the substance.
