Abstract
1,112,060. Refrigerating. LEYBOLD HOLDING A.G. 5 April, 1967 [5 April, 1966], No. 15728/67. Heading F4H. [Also in Division F1] In a heat pump the working cylinder and the transfer cylinder are combined in a single cylinder and the face of the transfer piston that is remote from the working piston is formed with a cavity adapted as the transfer piston operates to surround the projecting end of an element fitted into the cylinder wall for heat exchange with the gas in the cylinder. For demonstration purposes the cylinder may be constructed of glass or transparent plastic material. Porous packing in the transfer piston may comprise a plurality of layers such that the packing nearest the face remote from the working piston is a fine porous packing 24 and is more coarse beneath. Rings 11, 23 impregnated with lubricant are fitted to the working piston and transfer piston respectively. The element projecting through the cylinder wall may be a thermometer or a test body.
