887,563. Rectifier assemblies. WESTING- HOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd., and STEVENS, S. A. March 7, 1958 [March 8, 1957], No. 7739/57. Class 37. A rectifier assembly comprises a plurality of semiconductor rectifiers, the base-plate of each being in contact with a bus-bar, the opposite face of which lies adjacent but insulated from a cooling unit having conduits for fluid. Fig. 2. shows the semi-conductor units 1 with baseplates 10 in contact with bus-bar 4. An insulating layer 8 separates bar 4 from cooling unit 5 with U-tube shaped flattend conduits 12 fixed between copper laminµ 11, and a second insulating layer separates the unit from a second bus-bar 7. Bus-bars 4 and 7 are held together by insulating clamps 14. The other terminals of the rectifier elements are connected to a third bus-bar 6 via fuse links 16. Alternatively, cooling fins may be provided on the opposite side of the cooling unit. Fig. 5 shows an arrangement in which the second bus-bar is divided, each of the halves 7a and 7b being connected to the other terminals of the rectifier elements via fuse links 116. The arrangement may be adapted for use with three or six-phase supply.
