Abstract

822,466. Sparking plugs. JET IGNITION CO. Inc. Oct. 28, 1955 [Oct. 28, 1954], No. 30915/55. Class 7(4) A gas-tight seal is provided between a ceramic insulator 22 and a soft metal shell 12 by means of a ridge formed either on the shell or the insulator, the metal being deformed so as to conform to the contour of the insulator when pressure is applied to the latter by screw means 32. As shown the ridge 28 is formed on the shell, in Fig. 3 (not shown) the ridge is on the insulator. Electrodes 18, 20 are disposed in an internal ignition chamber 16 communicating with the cylinder by means of passages.
