Abstract
847,638. Rolling. KOCKS G.m.b.H., F. July 30, 1957, No. 24152/57. Class 83 (4). In a continuous-rolling mill for rolling wire and small sections in which the stands have two or more rolls, which are non-adjustably mounted in the stands, and the bearings, driving-wheels and driving-shafts for the rolls, the stands are interchangeably connected to a common frame and each can be coupled by at least one driving- shaft to a driving-shaft of gearing connected to the common frame, the stands being capable of fixing to the frame and of coupling with the gearing in two positions obtained by rotating the stands through 180 degrees about a horizontal axis. The rolls 10, 11, Fig. 1, are non- adjustably mounted in a stand 21 and are driven by a single motor 1 through gearing 2, 4, 16, 17, 18. The stands 21, Fig. 2, of the mill are rotatable in bearings 22 about a horizontal axis through the roll pass and parallel to the drive shafting 14, 15, through an angle of 180 degrees, so that drive-shafts 14, 15 engage with clutches 13, 12 respectively. The rolls on adjacent stands occupy positions displaced by 90 degrees. Stands having three rolls have two of the rolls inclined at 30 degrees to the horizontal axis while the third roll is vertically disposed, the disposition of the rolls on alternate stands being inverted. A four-roll pass has the rolls disposed at 67¢ or 22¢ degrees to the horizontal axis.
