Abstract

846,727. Holders for adhesive tape. OWENSMITH, A. S. L. March 4, 1958 [March 4, 1957; Dec. 6, 1957], Nos. 7154/57 and 38054/57. Class 18. A device for dispensing self-adhesive tape comprises a body 1 engaging the outside of a reel of tape, a cutter 8, and a tapered arm 12 extending from one side wall 3, the arm raising the end of the tape clear of the reel. The body is moulded from a thermo-plastic or a thermosetting synthetic resin. The cutter may be parallel to, or lie at an angle to, the axis of the reel. To accommodate reels of various widths the side wall 3a may be dispensed with and the device made wider. In an alternative construction in which only the rear part 6 of the body and the arm 12 rest on the reel, these points may be provided with small rollers, and the cutter may be a tight fit in the body, may have a bulbous root, or be formed integral with the body.
