Abstract
833,224. Two-part couplings. VOLEX ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS Ltd., and HUGHES, J. G. K. Feb. 18, 1957 [Jan. 23, 1956], No. 2124/56. Class 38 (1). A three-way adaptor comprises abase 10 carrying a T-shaped connector strip in a recess 11, lugs 14 in each limb forming the earthing sockets and a superimposed housing 34 carrying two three-armed connector strips 40 on opposite faces, live and neutral sockets 37 being carried on the arms of strips 40 and located one in each of six apertures in housing 34. The strip 40 carrying the neutral sockets is clamped between housing 34 and base 10, a screw 46 passing through clearance holes in housing 34 and strip 40 to engage a tapped hole 47 in a link 20 secured to the neutral pin by a screw 19, while a screw 48 similarly engages hole 49 in a link 21 connected to the live pin 17 through bolt 24, fuse 23 and screw 22. The fuse is held in a carrier pivoted in an opening 28 in base 10 and has a finger-piece 29. Each socket (Fig. 7) is formed by the central part of a U-shaped strip 38 and by one limb of blade 39, lugs 42 on strip 38 engaging in notches 41 in blade 39, the lugs being inserted in slots 43 in strip 40 and then bent over. Each of the three outlets is provided with an earth pin actuated slidable shutter 54, each shutter being T-shaped. A lug 58 on a spring-pressed actuator slider 57 of the shutter abuts a projection 60 on a cover 51.
