An electrical conduit 1, of insulating material, having walls 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 defining channels to accommodate electrical conductors 43, 24 &c., has apertures 21, Fig. 5, in its covers to admit plug pins which engage socket contacts 22, each secured to a conductor and held in position in its channel by lateral projections such as 28. The contacts 22 are made of two resilient metal strips 25 in engagement with one another to form the sockets 23, each contact being clamped into position on a conductor by means of a threaded bolt 30 passing through projection 28 and an associated nut which is prevented from rotating by a further projection. Contacts may alternatively be made from a single metal strip bent double. The position of the contacts along the length of the conduit can be determined by projections on the cover, which embrace them when the cover is in position. An earth contact comprises a member 34 having two contact strips 36 and being clamped to conductor 43 by bolt 40. The covers 2 of the conduit are detachably secured by means of snap connections near the longitudinal edges, such as a ridge 5 engaging a groove 6, the transverse edges of covers 2 being bridged by socket covers such as 3, which are fixed in position by screws 9. In an alternative arrangement one edge of the cover is integral with the conduit to form an elastic pivot, the other edge having a form of snap connection. A plurality of covers side by side may be used to cover the conduit.
