Abstract

A method of drawing or extruding a non-ferrous metal or alloy includes the step of lubricating the surface of the metal or alloy with a glass composition (see Group XXIII). In the examples, glass compositions suitable for use as lubricants in the extrusion of aluminium base alloys are described, the glasses having the following molar compositions: (1) P2O5 29.4%, Al2O3 18.3%, Na2O 44.8%, K2O 7.5%; and (2) P2O5 46.2%, Al2O3 5%, Na2O 48.8%ALSO:Fertilisers comprise a glass composition (see Group XXIII) Examples in molecules per cent.: <TABS:0829774/I/1>
