Abstract

819,977. Burners. ETCHELLS & SON Ltd., D., and ETCHELLS, W. K. Jan. 23, 1958 [Jan. 28, 1957], No. 2915/57. Addition to 716,841. Class 75(1) In an oil burning furnace as claimed in the parent Specification and comprising a central oil feed tube 20 terminating in a fine jet nozzle 19, a venturi member 21 encircling the nozzle 19 and directing an inner stream of air immediately around the nozzle and having passages 23 allowing air to pass to the outside and forwardly through inclined passages 25 in a front wall of the venturi member so as to converge and impinge upon the inner stream of air and oil mixture issuing from the venturi member, an annular chamber 30 is provided around the atomizing nozzle and has an inlet 32 for the supply of gas and an annular series of ports 33 discharging into the space in front of the nozzle. The annular chamber 30 is formed by a recess in the front wall of the venturi member. Vanes 22 are provided in the forward part of the venturi member 21.
