Class 119 A multi-barrelled drop-down gun has a striker-spring 5 in a movable tubular housing 1 which is guided at one end by a pin 13 on the panel moving in a groove 13 in the housing and has a pair of lugs 3 at the other end connected by a cross pin 4 which passes through a triangular slot cut in a member 8 the member 8 is pivoted at one end to a rod 6 passing through the spring 5 and at the other to a hammer 10 in such a way that the pin 4 occupies different corners of the triangular slot depending on whether the mechanism is in the open, cocked or fired position. The hammer 10 is retained in the cocked position by a toe 15 on a sear 14 urged by a spring 16 and co-operates with a firing pin 18 that is connected by a web to a cylindrical striker guide 19. When the barrels are dropped about their hinge 12, the pin 13 carries forward the housing 1 and by pulling on the member 8, causes the pin 4 to move down to the front lower corner of the triangular slot, thus cocking the hammer 10. Closing the weapon compresses the spring 6 and presses on the member 8 causing the pin 4 to move to the rear corner of the triangular slot, cocking the mechanism for firing as in Fig. 2. On opening the gun after firing, the front end of the rod 6 co-operates with a detent 24 to release the extractor pin 22, so as to eject the used cartridge case. The invention can be applied to multi-barrelled guns with either "over and under" or with "side by side" barrels.
