Abstract

816,505. Laminates. PNEUMATIQUES & CAOUTCHOUC MANUFACTURE KLEBERCOLOMBES. Oct. 12, 1955 [Oct. 12, 1954], No. 29068/55. Class 140. A laminated conveyer belt has a carcass consisting of a layer of transversely-disposed metal wires or cables 7 placed at or near the middle of the belt thickness, a layer of longitudinally-disposed metal wires or cables 6, and one or more interposed layers 8 that are resistant to tension and increase the transverse stiffness of the belt. The carcass is provided with covering layers 1, 2 of flexible material such as rubber or a synthetic plastic material. The wires or cables 6 are formed into a web by calendering rubber thereon. The wires or cables 7 are similarly formed into a web with the wires or cables running longitudinally. This web is cut into pieces of a length equal to the width of the belt carcass, which are placed sideby-side in the carcass with the wires running transversely. The interposed layer or layers 8 may be of transversely-extending textile cords or cables, e.g. of cotton or rayon, may be a twill fabric, a fabric woven of textile cords or cables, or a layer of hard rubber. The metal wires or cables may be brazed to augment adhesion of rubber thereto.
