Abstract

815,478. Binding-posts; terminal boards; wire couplings. GARNEROT & CO. (CONSOLIDATED AGENCIES) Ltd. Oct. 4, 1955 [Nov. 29, 1964], No. 28217/55. Class 38 (1). A wire is clamped against a contact member 19 by means of a metal hoop 12 embracing the contact and urged towards it by a spring 18 acting between the hoop and a U-shaped abutment 23 anchored on the contact member by passing the latter through apertures in the arms of the abutment. Two clamping devices are shown assembled on a common contact member 19 to form a unit adapted to be inserted in a recess in an insulating housing which is apertured for the passage of wires and a tool for depressing the hoops 12. A number of such housings may be mounted side-by-side to form a terminal strip.
