814,337. Injectionmoulding footwear. PIETROCOLA, R., and GUENZANI, O. Jan. 18, 1957 [Jan. 21, 1956], No. 1943/57. Class 87(2). A method of moulding footwear soles comprises placing a layer of porous material, e.g. cork, canvas or fabric against one surface of an opened mould so that when the mould is closed the layer faces an injection aperture, injecting molten plastic material through the aperture to fill the mould cavity and to embed the porous layer in the plastic material. A two-part mould 1, 2 has a cavity 3 and injection aperture 4. A cork insole 6 is located and secured in the mould by e.g. adhesive, and plastic material injected to fill the cavity. In order to protect the cork insole from the initial impact of the injected material a solid protective piece 7 of the plastic material is placed on the insole adjacent the injection aperture 4 and fuses with the injected plastic material.
