Abstract

<PICT:0803270/III/1> A pressure vessel is formed of intermeshed, helically-wound bands of fibre-glass filaments and a synthetic resin binder, the cross-over points of the windings extending spirally outwardly about the axis of the helical windings. The resin may be thermosetting and clear or loaded with pigment or dyes, and include structural additives such as fibres to create a random pattern within and between the bands. Auxiliary, helically-wound, filamentary bands provide local variations 82 in the thickness of the vessel; such thickened portions may be screw-threaded.
