Abstract
803,107. Treating and finishing yarns. SEEM, W. A., STODDARD, N. J., TECCE, F., and BERGER, H. P., [trading as PERMATWIST CO.]. Jan. 4, 1955[Jan. 4, 1954], No. 259/55. Classes 120(2) and 120(3) A method of continuously thermally processing thermoplastic yarn as claimed in Specification 803,105 further includes passing the yarn through a false twist device and a tension device comprising comblike vanes with interdigitated tines. The false twist device may be as described in Specification 803,108, the tension device as described in Specification 803,109, and the heating device as in Specification 803,110. The processing may be carried out on a modified up-twister as described in Specification 803,106 in which the yarn passes through a tension device 11, a heater 10, a false twist tube 2 and is taken up on a spool S. To produce a crepe yarn, highly twisted yarn is, whilst being heated further twisted in the same direction as the initial twist by the false twist device and the false twist is removed whilst cooling. Undrawn thermoplastic yarns may be processed by twisting such yarns under sufficient tension to produce the desired degree of drawing.
