799,028. Rod, &c. couplings. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP DE BATAAFSCHE PETROLEUM MAATSCHAPPIJ. Oct. 29, 1956 [Oct. 31, 1955], No. 32954/56. Addition to 786,652. Class 99(1). [Also in Group XXIV] In the pin-and-box coupling described in the parent Specification in which the pin 2 and the box 4 are provided with tapered screw-threads 7, 8 such that, when the coupling has been tightened up, the outer flanks of the screwthread 7 and the inner flanks of the screwthread 8 are more heavily loaded than the other flanks, the screw-thread 7 has a pitch greater than that of the screw-thread 8 and the difference in pitch decreases from the middle of the screw-threads towards the ends thereof. The outer and inner flanks are defined as those directed respectively away from and towards a plane M normal to the axis 9, of the coupling. As shown, the pin 2 is provided with a shoulder 5 which abuts a shoulder 6 formed on the box 4. The generatrix of the crests of the screwthread 7 may diverge with respect to the generatrix of the roots from the ends towards the middle of the screw-thread.
