[Also in Groups XXII and XXIV] A coupling between a hollow drill shaft 1 and a similar shaft (not shown), comprises an intermediate sleeve 2 having threads 3 by which it is screwed into the shaft ends and an unthreaded centre portion 5, the end of the inter mediate sleeve being addi tionally secured to the shaft 1 alone by pressing, forging or shrinking. The end of the shaft 1 may also be similarly connected to the unthreaded centre portion 5 of the sleeve 2 by pressing, &c.
