788,004. Dual control apparatus for motor vehicles. BRITISH SCHOOL OF MOTORING, Ltd. Dec. 15, 1955 [Jan. 26, 1955], No. 2353/55. Classes 79(3) and 79(5) Dual control apparatus for automobiles of the kind having a duplicate steering wheel, and set of foot pedals disposed at the side of the vehicle remote from the normal steering wheel so that a driving instructor may take over from a pupil driver control of the vehicle, comprises means adapted to be disposed in a position accessible by the instructor associated with at least one of the pupil driver's pedals, whereby in operation the instructor in addition to being able to take over complete driving control at any time may oppose attempted movements of the pedal by the pupil driver. The instructor's clutch operating arm n has a slot o connected by a pin p to a bell crank q pivoted at rand provided with toe and heel pedals s and t, whereby the instructor can augment or reverse the movements of the pupil's clutch pedal arm d. The instructors accelerator control comprises a "see-saw" u connected by a link v and mechanism (not shown) with the pupil's accelerator w. A stirrup may be provided on the instructor's brake pedal m, whereby movement of the pupil's brake pedal i may be opposed.
