Abstract
1336848 Dual control pedal BRITISH SCHOOL OF MOTORING Ltd 23 Nov 1970 [24 Nov 1969] 57461/69 Heading B7H A dual control vehicle has a supplementary vehicle control pedal which is detachably mounted on a pedal support and has detachably secured thereto a linkage for transmitting movement of the pedal to an accelerator, brake or clutch mechanism. As described the pedal is an accelerator pedal 5 having welded thereto an inverted U-shaped member 9 which enables it to be hooked over a shaft 2 mounted in a frame 1 fixed to the vehicle floor. Two washers 3 welded to the shaft 2 prevent horizontal sliding movement of the pedal on the shaft 2. A supplementary accelerator cable 8 having a nipple 14 can be attached to the pedal 5 by sliding the cable 8 down a slot 7 until the nipple 14 is trapped in a recess 15. The cable 8 passes through a grummet 12 on the bulkhead 13 and a cap 16 can be screwed on to the grummet 12 over the nipple 14 when the pedal 5 has been removed. Also mounted on the shaft 2 are clutch and brake pedals (only one 10 being shown) which are connected to the main pedals by Bowden cables 11.
