Abstract
767,576. Converters; ladles. DEMAG AKT.-GES. Nov. 26, 1954 [Nov. 27, 1953; March 12, 1954], No. 34432/54. Classes 72 and 82(1) A metallurgical converter, ladle or like vessel of welded construction has a plate of thicker section carrying the trunnions, the thicker section tapering towards the sides at which it is welded to the other sections of the shell. As shown, a plate 4, forming part of the shell of a converter, tapers at 4a to the same thickness as the plates forming the remainder of the shell. A flange 6 carrying a trunnion 2 is mounted on the plate 4 by bolts 9 passing through the flange 6, lugs 7 which may rest on, or be welded to, the plate, and the plate 4. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the flange may be bolted directly on to the plate, a projection on the flange entering a recess or aperture in the plate.
