Abstract

736,635. Liquid-fuel combustion chambers. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES), Ltd., J. June 10, 1954 [June 25, 1953], No. 17620/53. Class 51 (1). A liquid-fuel combustion apparatus, particularly for heating molten metal in a ladle, comprises a cylindrical sheet-metal combustion chamber a to which is attached an extension b, of smaller diameter, which accommodates a burner nozzle c and an air swirler d. The combustion chamber is surrounded by an air jacket g and is provided with perforations n and o through which air is supplied from the air jacket. An air supply duct j surrounds the lower portion of the air jacket and is arranged so that its width gradually diminishes from its entrance side to the side remote from the entrance so that air may enter the adjacent open end of the air jacket uniformly.
