[Class 36] [Also in Groups X and XXVIII] A joint where a pipe 2, Fig. 6, passes through a wall 1 which is water-proofed by layers, such as 3, 5 of bitumen-loaded hessian or bitumenloaded felt fibre, is made by applying a jointing ring 4 of bitumen-loaded hessian to the pipe and to the inner layer 3 of wall-water-proofing, then applying the outer layer 5 of the wallwater-proofing to the flange of the jointing ring and thereafter applying a sealing-ring 6 and sleeve 8 of bitumen-loaded hessian, the various joints being effected under heat and pressure. If bitumen-loaded felt fibre is used as wallwater-proofing, a third layer 7, Fig. 5, is applied to the sealing-ring 6 and the joint is completed by a sleeve 8 of bitumen-loaded hessian.
