Abstract
577,612. Electric couplings. NOVOBAX, Ltd., and SHARMAN, A. V. Feb. 17, 1944, No. 3007. [Class 38 (i)] A plug socket 11 has a pivoted insulated shutter 15, 16 masking the live sockets 12, 13 locked by two spring controlled detent arms 21 which are preferably parallel to the shutter and engage in teeth on opposite sides of the shutter intermediate between the live sockets, and in line with the pivot. Lugs 27 on the detent arms overlap the socket holes and both detents are released when the plug pins are properly presented to the sockets to engage the lugs 27 simultaneously. The pins then act on the bevelled faces 15, 16 of the shutter arms to turn the shutter against a compression spring 18. The shutter mechanism is mounted in the cover of the plug socket and is enclosed by an insulating back plate.
