Abstract

561,819. Flexible gas containers. ALLEN FABRIC GAS CONTAINER CO., Ltd. [formerly Allen Neil Fabric Gas Container Co., Ltd.], and ALLEN, E. Jan. 21, 1943, No. 1064. [Class 54] A flexible gas container 10 for motor vehicles and like purposes has its sides braced by flexible tension members 14, Fig. 1, attached at various points 15 to the inner walls and to an elastic annulus 16 which when the container is full of gas is stretched so as to impart tension to the flexible members and hold the walls against outward bulging or distortion. As shown in Fig. 2, the container is supported in a rigid frame housing 11, 12, 13 and the side walls are pressed inwardly as the container is deflated by flaps 17 hinged at 18 and weighted at 171. A constant downward pull is exerted on the top of the container by elastic members 20 secured to the frame housing and to patches 19 on the upper surface of the container.
