838,579. Tents supported by air pressure. FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER CO. June 19, 1958 [Aug. 7, 1957], No. 19621/58. Class 20(1) [Also in Group XXV] A portable structure particularly of the kind that is supported by air pressure comprises a number of flexible sheets, a base ring 50, and a top centre portion 51. The sheets may be of rubberized fabric and are joined by providing a sheet 1 with extensions 3 and 4 to one of its edges and sheet 2 with extension 7 as shown in Fig. 2. A pin 16 is passed through aligned holes with grommets 13, 14 and 15 and held in place by clip 17. A flap 11 is fixed to the inner extension 3 and, when pressure is built up inside the structure, presses against the extension 7 to form an airtight seal. A modified form of air seal is also described.
