Abstract
306,186. Thomson, A. M. Nov. 18, 1927. Ground anchors comprise a tube a, Fig. 1, having a pointed end b<1> and apertures d, d<1>, d<2> near the bottom through which metal rods f, f<1>, f<2> are driven outwardly after passing longitudinally down through the tube. The pointed end of the tube may be replaced by a pointed block b, Figs. 2-5, which is secured in the end of the tube and formed with a shank b<2> having grooves d, d<1>, d<2>, Fig. 2, or bored longitudinally as in Fig. 3 or formed with an inclined upper surface b<3>, Fig. 5, against which the rods are forced and guided. The openings in the tube and block may be spiral so that the rods become twisted as they are forced therethrough into the ground as shown in Fig. 4.
