Description

L. c. STOCK CHERRY STONER Filed March 12 1924 AZJTI/LF C. Jfac/f Patented Dec. 2, 1924.
UNITED STATES lfilltidil LESTER O. STOCK, OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI.
CHERRY STONER.
Application filed March 12, 1924.
1 0 all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, Lns'rnn. C. Sroon, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at. University City, in the county of St. Louis and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cherry Stoners, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
lvfly invention relates to improvements in cherry stoners, and has for its-object to pro ride a hand tool especially adapted to removing cherry pits.
The tool is intended to be forced into the body of the cherry from the point at the base of its stem, and then looped about the stone or pit, which is withdrawn by the pull of the tool, leaving the body of the cherry intact except for the puncture resulting from the insertion and withdrawal of the tool I) WHO/7198.
In the drawings- Fig.1. 1 is a side elevation ot the tool of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the same.
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view of the blade, taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Description.
As shown in the drawings, my tool is primarily a narrow elongated looped blade 4, triangular in section as illustrated in Fig. 3, having the inner flat face 5 and the pointed. terminal 6.
To mount said blade 4. securely in the handle 7 I provide said blade 4- with the shoulders 8 which abut and. rest upon the ferrule 9. The handle 7 has a central. longitudinal bore 10 through which the inner terminals 11l1 pass, their ends 1212 Serial No. 698,620.
being bent outwardly as shown in Fig. 2 to rest upon the outer face of the Washer 13, which washer 13 is embedded in the butt end of the handle 7 as shown in Fig. 2.
Mode 0 operation.
In use, the terminal 6 is thrust into the body of the cherry being pitted, to a point where the blade 4 can be looped about and embraces the pit, the tool grasping the pit with the flat face 5 contacting with the pit. The tool is removed from the cherry by a pull exerted upon the handle 7, carrying the pit with it.
In such operation the body of the cherry is unbroken save for the puncture resulting from the insertion and removal of the tool, thus leaving; the pitted cherry practically undefaced for the purposes of candying or otherwise preserving the fruit.
I claim- 1. A cherry stoner comprising an elongated looped blade having a flat inner face and a pointed terminal.
2. A cherry stoner comprising an elongated. looped. blade having a pointed terminal at its outer end and having its inner ends mounted in. a suitable handle.
7 3. A cherry stoner comprising a looped blade triangular in section and having a fiat inner face. ii
4. A cherry stoner embodying a handle and a looped blade mounted in said handle. said blade being triangular in section and having a flat inner face.
5. .A. cherry stoner embodying a handle and a narrow elongated looped blade mounted in said handle. said blade being triangula.
in section and having: a flat inner face and a pointed terminal.
In. testimony whereof I have hereunto al fixed my signature.
