Abstract

Mine props. - A mine prop is formed of upper and lower wooden members d, p and a capped exterior metal casing c disposed over them so that the cap bears on the top of the upper member and the lower end extends down to below the contacting point of the members. A metal plate e may be inserted between the contacting ends of the wooden parts and the ends of the casing may be stiffened by sleeve members a, f. The end of the lower wooden member is tapered so that it crushes easily.
