Abstract
223,038. Blakeborough, R. A., Broad head, J. B., and Wood, T. Oct. 4, 1923. Fluid-actuated valves.- A valve device particularly adapted to close automatically in the event of a burst or abnormal draw has the main valve actuated or controlled by the pressure conditions in a Venturi bye-pass straddling the main valve. The main valve comprises an eyelet-type sluice valve b<1> or a rotary valve actuated by a piston d under the control of a known type of auxiliary valve k connected by pipes i and j or j<1> to the Venturi bye-pass f. The entrance to the bye-pass is fitted with a pivoted or sliding deflector l to ensure an adequate supply of pressure fluid in the bye-pass to actuate the control device. The throat of the bye-pass is also fitted with a valve o actuated synchronously with the main valve by a cylinder t controlled by a four-way cock q actuated through a lever p from the main valve spindle. The lever p-may also control a cock v to retard the movement of the main valve during the last part of its stroke.
