Abstract

A device for aligning pipe sections is adapted to fit within the ends of abutting pipe sections to be joined together so holding the pipes in alignment preparatory and during welding. The device is releasable to permit withdrawal in response to a pull exerted by means accessible at or from the end of one pipe remote from the abutting ends. In a preferred embodiment the device is a resilient ring 11 and has a pull-tag 30 extending radially of the ring for attachment to a draw cord, not shown. To avoid scratching, the ring may be coated with release agent. <IMAGE>
