Abstract

A device limiting the opening of doors and holding doors open comprises a base plate 1 which is arranged to be fixed to a floor close to the path of the edge of the door as it opens and a spindle 3 projecting upwards from the base plate 1. An eccentric circular cam 6 is mounted on the spindle and has a radial projection 11 which is engaged by the door as it approaches its fully open position. The engagement of the door with the projection 11 causes the cam 6 to be rotated so that its peripheral surface 7 jams against the end surface 16 of the door and both prevents further opening of the door and jams the door in its open position. <IMAGE>
