Abstract

A device for limiting the opening of a door and holding a door open comprises a base 1 to be fixed to a floor, a door holding arm 6 which has one end pivotally attached to the base 1 and is biased into an upwardly projecting position (Fig. 1) by a spring 12, 13. The arm has a door stop member 8 projecting upwards from it at its free end and adjacent the stop member the arm has a portion which is arranged to grip the bottom edge of the door frictionally after the door has been pushed open over the arm. This friction grip holds the door in its open position in contact with the stop member 8 against the closing force exerted by rising butt hinges or a door closing spring. <IMAGE>
