Abstract

Washing or waste water resulting from the treatment of waste paper is mixed with calcium soaps, and the calcium soap, which acts as a collector for hydrophobic substances contained in the waste water, is separated out together with the hydrophobic substances by sedimentation, flotation, centrifuging or filtering, and the cleansed water is returned to the treatment process.
