Abstract

201,030. Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., and Macbeth, C. July 19, 1922. Spring wheels.-In resilient wheels of the type comprising an outer rigid ring and continuous or sectional resilient cushions, the outer ring D is made in sections with adjustable connections, in the form of a turnbuckle N, wedges, links or other suitable device, for the purpose of compressing the resilient cushion and reducing the circumference of the ring to facilitate the mounting and dismounting of a tyre carrying ring L. The blocks constituting the resilient cushions are vulcanized to metal end plates F, G which are secured to the ring D and the wheel centre A by screws K. or by forming in these parts an undercut channel with one side 3 detachable, or by making a channel of greater width than the plates and clamping them by screws 5. Spacing plates 10 may be provided between the successive cushion plates. The blocks may be arranged in a number of superposed rows preferably in pyramidal form narrowing towards the outer circumference.
