Abstract
When nonionic surfactants containing poly(alkylene oxide) groups with terminal hydroxyl groups are used in cleaner formulations containing an alkaline builder, discoloration of the formulation owing to interaction of the ingredients with an oxidizing agent is avoided by dissolving in the nonionic surfactant a semicarbazide compound in an amount of from 0.01 to 0.3 mole per liter. The cleaner formulations are used for bottle washing and in domestic dishwashers.
