Abstract

A bolster-type shearing machine is provided with two coacting knives (43,44) for cutting off the stock. One bolster (41) is driven for providing shearing movements of the machine, the other (42) being stationary during these movements. Both knife-carrying bolsters (41,42) are made displaceably guided in each other and each of them carries, adjacent its associated knife (43,44), a support (45,46) for the stock. The support is displaceably guided in the other bolster, limitedly movable in relation to both bolsters and constitutes a stop or support for the portion of the stock which is acted on by the knife carried by the other bolster during shearing movements of the machine. Hereby the supports clamp in the machine the portions of the stock situated on either side of the plane of action of the knives during the shearing movements to counteract bending deformation, due to shearing. <IMAGE>
