Abstract

[Also in Division B4] A machine for producing grooved or plain cardboard blanks from a moving continuous sheet comprises two or more slitter-scorer units 4 carried by a rotatable housing 5 which is arranged to index automatically to bring a required slitter-scorer unit to the operative position and, arranged between blank feeding and receiving tables 6, 7 and the operative position of a set of the said elements, telescoping guide table members 1, 2 which on initiation of the control sequence, are automatically retracted from the path swept by the housing and, after the housing has been indexed to a new position, are returned to the operative position. Each slitter-scorer unit 4 consists of shafts carrying rolls for grooving the blanks and shafts carrying inter-meshing knives for slitting. When a previously-adjusted unit is to be brought up to the operative position, the sequence of the automatic operations is such that the guide table members 1, 2 on reaching their fully-retracted position through the action of fluid or electro-motor units 11, initiate the indexing movement of the housing.
