Abstract

Oil vapours are drawn from a crankcase 13 by an ejector 14, 16 operated by one of the fluids required for operating the engine, and the communication provided between the crankcase and the ejector is reduced or closed by a valve 17 when a predetermined vacuum has built up within the crankcase. The ejector can be provided in the lubricating oil system or in the supercharging air system, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). <IMAGE>
