Abstract

1302166 Treating IC engine charge; venting crank-cases ALFA ROMEO SpA 12 Nov 1970 [24 Jan 1970] 53998/70 Heading F1B In an I.C. engine fuel vapours from a tank 16 are stored temporarily within the crank-case 11, valve gear housing 10 and connecting passages, Fig.1 when the engine is inoperative and when the engine is running both the fuel vapours from the tank and fuel vapours evolved in the crankcase, valve housing and connecting passages, are drawn into the engine cylinders. The fuel vapour passes through conduit 15 into duct 13, valve gear housing 10 and crank-case 11 when the engine is inoperative. When the engine is running the gases from the crank-case 11 entrain the vapour emerging from the conduit and both are drawn into the cylinders.
