Abstract

A floating dock 10 has a vessel support means which is variably buoyant and comprises a pair of central rotatably mounted caissons 12 to which outrigger floats 14 are attached by arms 13 the floats 14 moving towards or away from one another as the support means is lowered or raised respectively relative to the water surface. The caissons 12 are geared together for opposite rotational movement. The floats 14 can be coupled together by a tie rod, the movement of which can control the inclination of the pivot arms 13 and the buoyancy of the caissons 12 to raise or lower a vessel 15 on the dock. <IMAGE>
