Abstract

The present invention relates generally to press-forging machinery and more particularly to hydraulic screw presses featuring a double-ended pressing action upon the blank. The frame of a press mounts groups of slides 2, 4 respectively carrying female die halves 3 and male die halves 5, both of said groups of slides reciprocating towards each other. The slides carrying the male die halves are actuated from hydraulic power cylinders 11 linked to the slides through lead screws 12 on which are threadably mounted fly-wheels 15. The lead screws at one end are associated with the male-die carrying slides and at the other end are secured to the movable members 25 of the hydraulic power cylinders actuating said screws, while the fly-wheels are interconnected through mechanical gearing. It is due to the aforesaid feature that the press proposed herein provides for high accuracy of press-forging, endurance of die sets and operational reliability thereof. <IMAGE>
