Abstract

The invention relates to a caliper type brake gear having two brake shoes and abutments to prevent undue disengagement of the shoes should the shoe lever pivot pins break. Abutments 20, 21 engage recesses 20A, 21A in the event of breakage of lower pivot pins 13, 14 while at the upper ends of the levers, recesses 46, 47 formed in the levers will engage crossheads 24, 25 in the event of breakage of trunnions 26, 27. <IMAGE>
