Abstract

A spring assembly for preventing a brake shoe from floating or departing off a backing plate, which shoe is pivoted to the backing plate. This spring assembly includes a shoe-hold-down plate spring of 'U' shaped cross section, and a shoe-hold-down pin extending through the opposed portions 48 of the 'U' so as to hold the aforenoted plate spring in position. Furthermore, stoppers 52 are provided on at least one of the opposed portions of the plate spring in the direction to face the other of the opposed portions, for preventing the plate spring from being deformed beyond its yielding point upon the assembling of the spring assembly. <IMAGE>
