Abstract

A recess (16) in one side of the brake disc (10) extends towards the braking surface (14) to a distance d therefrom corresponding to the maximum permissible wear of the surface. When the disc has worn by the amount "d", a pin 22 of a built-in or auxiliary test-probe can engage in the opened recess 16, indicating that the brake disc should be renewed. A corresponding arrangement may be provided for the other disc surface. <IMAGE>
