Abstract

161,461. Ledwinke, J. May 20, 1920. Doors for passenger vehicles.-The construction of the sheet-metal door is such that it may be made entity of sheet steel except for wooden slats for the attachment of the upholstering. The outer sheet t 10, Fig. 2, has its bounding edge shaped as at 12, 13 to form a combined heading and flange respectively. The inner sheet 11 is concave and has a channel 14 formed at its bounding edge which is attached to the outer sheet 10 at the flange 13, or also at the centre where it is in contact. The channel 14 forms a seating for the wooden strip 15 to which the upholstery is attached. The sheet 11 may he flat, the channel being of just sufficient depth to receive the wooden slat. In another modification, the door consists of the sheet 10 only, strengthened by a flange 14, Fig. 2. The hinges are securd to the channel sections.
