Abstract
1514495 Damp-proofing masonry DOW CORNING Ltd 25 June 1976 [2 July 1975] 27786/75 Heading DIP [Also in Division C3] An aqueous composition comprising water having dissolved therein a water soluble hydrolysis product of one or more silanes of the general formula RSi(OR') 3 in which R is an alkyl (1-4C) or vinyl radical and R' is a methyl, ethyl, propyl or methoxyethyl radical, is introduced into a masonary structure by way of one or more holes therein, to form a damp proof barrier. The composition may be buffered to a desired pH value e.g. 2-5.5 prior to use and may further comprise a water soluble alcohol e.g. methyl, ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. The composition may be gravity fed or injected under pressure into the masonry, which may be already wet. An alkaline substance may be injected to assist curing stone, brick or concrete may be treated.
