Abstract

1504060 Treating exhaust gases AIR PRODUCTS & CHEMICALS Inc 16 July 1975 [10 Sept 1974] 29915/75 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions B1-B2] Carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in an engine exhaust gas are oxidized by contact with a catalyst comprising platinum and palladium supported on a gamma-alumina coated alpha-alumina monolith which has been made by dipping the alpha-alumina monolith into an alumina hydrosol, removing the coated monolith from the hydrosol and spinning it to remove centrifugally excess hydrosol, drying and calcining, the coating process being repeated until the desired thickness of coating was obtained.
