Abstract
1503278 Magnesia refractories OSTERREICHISCH-AMERIKANISCHE MAGNESIT AG 15 July 1976 [16 July 1975] 29565/76 Heading C1J [Also in Division F4] Refractory material used to form unfired gate valves for metallurgical vessels (see Division F4) comprises 55-98À5% MgO with a phosphate, e.g. chromium phosphate or chromic acid as a binder. Sintered magnesia of particle size 0À3-1 mm. is mixed in the ratio of 65:35 with the same magnesia of particle size 0-0À2 mm. and bound with 3 kg. sodium metaphosphate and 2 kg. H 2 O per 100 kg. of mixture. Magnesia and chrome ore may be mixed with sodium metaphosphate and the dried shapes impregnated with tar, or anhydrous spent sulphite cellulose liquor, and chalk may be added with the sodium metaphosphate. The composition of the fused magnesia and chrome ores and the particle sizes to be used are given, and the composition of patching mixes are also given.
